The 10-9 vote against SB 318 is encouraging, but the worst thing we can do is assume the bill is dead. It isn't, and we must continue to pressure members of the Appropriations Committee.
As early as this Thursday, the dangerous pro-fracking bill SB 318 could be voted on in the critical Senate Appropriations Committee. That is SB 318's final stop before going to the senate floor.
Last week, the Florida House, at the behest of Big Oil lobbyists, advanced a pro-fracking bill that would strip cities and counties’ legal authority to ban this dirty, dangerous, and environmentally destructive drilling in their communities.
Take action and tell the Florida Legislature to reject HB 191 and SB 318. Communities should be able to protect their land and water from fracking.
