Statement of Progress Florida Executive Director Mark Ferrulo on today's announcement by Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi that an outside Inspector General will investigate the firings by her office of two staff attorneys investigating foreclosure fraud.

"Progress Florida called for an independent investigation because we believe there are more than enough questions surrounding the manner in which these two attorneys were fired, to warrant one.

More than 6,000 Floridians signed a petition in just a few short days calling for an independent investigation of these firings. It's great news that their voices have been heard, but we will remain vigilant in ensuring that this investigation is truly independent of Pam Bondi's office and entirely removed from potential political or outside influence.

The Florida Office of Attorney General is on the front lines in the never ending effort to protect Floridians from scam artists, fraudsters and corporate criminals. It's of paramount importance that the "people's attorneys" be free to act on our behalf and not subject to the political shenanigans in Tallahassee."
